iPAQ/GPRS (1998-2000)
I spent seven years as a business analyst in telecommunications while working for GTE (now Verizon) and followed that up with three years as product manager and evangelist for Wireless Location Services & Mobile Commerce for Compaq Computers in their Global Telecoms Division. Since 1997, I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of ground breaking projects including the first data-centric smart phones (GSM/GPRS and Touch Screen enabled iPAQ Personal Digital Assistant), the first Intelligent Network solutions for mobile E911, wireless location services and secure mobile commerce applications including mobile wallet and mobile prepaid.
I also founded Diabetech in 2001 around my original design for GlucoMON®-ADMS, one of the first mHealth systems in the world. This effort required custom cellular device design, development, testing and training to end users and clinic staff. The resulting randomized controlled translational clinical trials were conducted from 2002 – 2011. Proof of effectiveness published in peer reviewed medical journals in 2012 is accelerating adoption by the health care industry of certain next generation cellular connected medical devices and behavior change platforms.
My attention to self-care via lifestyle choices has resulted for me personally in reversing several previously diagnosed autoimmune conditions including Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism among others. Thus, my focus on the power within each of us to change the direction of health in our friends, family and our community.
